Heat Treating in Metal Fabrication

AMECO USA utilizes the technique heat treating as part of our metal fabricating capabilities. Heat treating is an industrial process of altering the physical, and sometimes chemical, properties of metal. The term heat treatment applies to any process where the heating and cooling of metal are done for the specific purpose of altering its properties.

Metal consists of microstructures of small crystals called "grains". The nature of these grains is one of the most effective factors that can determine the overall mechanical behavior of the metal. Heat treating provides an efficient way to manipulate the properties of the metal by controlling the rate of diffusion and the rate of cooling within the microstructure.

Heat treating processes used by AMECO USA include:
  • Annealing
  • Normalizing
  • Stress relieving
  • Hot Forming/Rolling
